A ritual is a way to honor a threshold moment of life. In most cultures throughout time, rituals were a natural part of being in community. Rituals help us process the change we are experiencing - saying goodbye, letting go, releasing the old and welcoming the new and unknown. Together we honor the crossing you are making into a new chapter of life. Without a ritual, we often find ourselves stuck or longing for the past because we did not receive the closure we needed. Rituals are also an important way for community to show up for each other and acknowledge the significance of our these rites of passage. It is a lifegiving experience for everyone involved as we hold these sacred moments for each other.
All the rituals I create are unique, but each will include: sacred space, ceremonial objects, intent, and a witness. Before your ritual, we will meet together and discuss the threshold you are crossing and its significance. Invitation is important in ritual. Nothing is a demand. As we work together, I will offer many options so you can choose what speaks to your soul.
Planning for your ritual may include some pre-work for you such as writing on slips of paper things you want to release. We will also consider if there are objects and people that you'd like to include in your ritual. Rituals are communal experiences and I love working with groups of people to co-hold the experience and share their talents. On the day of the ritual, I will guide you and any participants through each step taking our time to honor the significance of the moment together.
One of the biggest surprises for me has been discovering that Zoom can be a powerful tool to create sacred ritual. It allows people who otherwise would not be able to attend to gather together. I meet with you ahead of the ritual to explore the significance of the ritual and gain a sense of your hopes and needs. I plan a custom ritual to honor your threshold crossing. If you have people you'd like to share the ritual with, I will email everyone in preparation for the ritual including a list of any sacred objects we might use in the ritual such as bells, a small bowl of water, or seeds. We each have the opportunity to prepare our own physical spaces so that we can create the sacred space together online.

A sacred space for loss and longing to be tended in community
When I experienced a devastating and unexpected loss in my own family, I longed for a place where I could be held in community and let my grief flow. Our community grief rituals are a place for the doing of grief. All expressions of grief are welcome. Through song, reflection, movement, and deep listening, we witness one another with compassion.
Register here to join us on third Saturday of the month at Lakewood Cemetery.
